About Mendip Lavender
Grown in the wonderful Mendip hills, Mendip Lavender grow seven types of lavender, each with very distinctive properties, aroma and appearance.
Six varieties are Lavandula angustifolia including 'Twickel Purple', 'Imperial Gem', 'Hidcote', 'Folgate', 'Maillette', 'No9' and one variety of Lavandula x intermedia called 'Grosso'.
Mendip Lavender plants are grown without using any artificial chemicals, intervention or fertilizers. So much care is taken throughout the growing process, the lavender is even harvested by hand.
Harvesting by hand also ensures that the balance of nature is not disturbed and also the many wild neighbours, such as hares, deer and insects.
The flowers are distilled on-site giving the shortest time possible between harvest and oil production. This preserves the integrity of the oil ensuring it is of the highest possible therapeutic quality.
